I have to do oral presentations in the program I am involved in. Long ones to, only catch is that I get panic attacks where I freeze and cant move and social anxiety about it. It seems to have control of me. I am so super unsure if this is an achievable goal of mine. What suggestions and other stories do people have. I feel so alone here. I know many people suffer from this but I feel like it's not as bad as what I experience. Help!!

OK #1. Ur not alone.#2. I believe u will achieve ur goal if u keep ur mind to it.I have anxiety disorder and panic attacks. When I go up in front of people I also feel this way too. I have had anxiety for 6 years now and considering I am only 24 there is lots of stuff I know about it. The best thing U can do is learn deep breathing teck and learn how u react to different circumstance's. Since u are in a place wear u have to read in front of a lot of people If I wear u I would read ur presentations over and over tell u feel comfortable then when ur up there reading imagine ur all alone or in front of someone u feel comfort from. Believe me when I have anxiety attacks I feel like there is something wrong with me and I am going to die. This feeling is hard to come past but I do, and now I have control and I am doing things I would never think I would do. For all u out there that doesn't understand what anxiety is here is a example. it's like walking down the road and something jumping out at u. U start to shake and ur hearts starts to skips a beat. IT is the worst feeling in the world.

Okay, I used to have this so bad that I would shake for days before a presentation, chickened out of many, and would usually puke before or after. But now I give a lot of presentations and people say I'm really good. The main difference I found was whether I am presenting on something I know well or not. Once I realized people wanted to hear from me I reacted much better. However, for a class presentation this is difficult because you know that the other people are also looking at you and may not be that interested in what you're saying. I have on occasion also taken medications -- if you tell your doctor you can usually get a "beta blocker" prescription. Beta blockers will keep your heart rate from racing and this helps keep the other physical signs of anxiety (like shaking and sweating) at bay. Lastly, just get some confidence in yourself -- it may take time, but worth the effort.

Fancy, you will be just fine......you CAN achieve this goal or you will just hate yourself later in life for not attempting it. Everyone in the program must give a presentation. You can seek a doctor for a pill called Xanax and it will actually calm you down or you can take just one tylenol PM to help calm you . (only one). Once you get up there and start speaking your anxiety will go away...do like I did......PRETEND YOUR AUDIENCE IS NAKED..........hahahaha It'll give you a laugh. Good luck to you and I have great faith you will do fantastic!
