The Bible Is God’s Word

The Bible claims to be inspired. Peter said, “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (II Peter 1:21.) The Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) so guided the writers of the Bible that they could not make mistakes. “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth” (I Corinthians 2:13.) Because of this there are no real contradictions in the Bible. Those things which appear to be contradictions disappear under close investigation.

That the Bible is true may be shown by several of its characteristics. It is scientifically accurate, even though it is not a book of science. It is historically accurate. Every attempt to prove it historically wrong has failed. It is prophetically correct as is seen in many prophecies which have been fulfilled beyond question. It is impartial, presenting both good and bad of all men, not trying to gloss over the sins of any man who might be “a man after God’s own heart.” It presents the world’s highest standard of morality. Finally, it has never been destroyed in spite of dozens of attempts to exterminate it.

We can trust it because of faith--believing in what we don't see or have proof of, but know it's there. The Bible is not the only source. Look around, especially nature. The sun, the moon, your family and friends. It is too complicated to make these wonderful things without God. When you see a house, you know that someone built it, just the same as when you look up and see a tree, the sky--the whole world, galaxy, universe, etc. God bless.

It took me a while before I decided to answer this question. I read all of the responses and I can appreciate them. I believe that the Bible doesn't prove that there is a God, but that doesn't mean there isn't a God. In order to find the truth you have to have facts. A "fact" can be summed up as objective reality. Objective reality is when two random people can take the same subject, do research, and come up with the same conclusion. You can’t do that with the Bible. One scripture means something totally different to individual people. But I do know this, we are products of survival. We do whatever it takes to benefit ourselves. And with that being said, people in that past were no different. It is all about our nature. What is the purpose for us being here? Well the reason why most can’t figure it out is because you deny the obvious. That is why life is so hard to understand. Why would we be different than any other living thing on this earth; from ants to trees? We all co-exist. And one of the man keys for survival in human beings is power (especially in men). For women it is security, but we all have a little of both. And that is why there are so many different Religions; Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, Catholic, and so on. What do you have to have to possess power; Control? What ensures control; fear? I have had everyone come to my front door. The question is, “If you died tomorrow do you know where you would go?” What are we most afraid of; not having power and security? We have a choice these days, back then, you were killed depending on your religious beliefs. And that is still the case in some countries. The problem with spirituality is this: we don’t ask what we can do for God; we ask what He can do for us. And that is the reason why people are religious. Because of personal benefit, whatever it may be. What can the benefits be? Attention, acceptance, financial gain, everlasting life. (Oh Lord please bless me with this job) Family control (oh Jimmy is losing his mind, drinking and such; we need to start going to church as a family again). When you finally get in the church, it is the Pastors job to keep you there. How does he do that, fear… not being accepted into the heaven. Fear= control= power= money. The church today as we know it is a business. Why, because, more people in the church means more offerings, more offerings mean bigger church, bigger church means more people, more people means more offering. Don’t say it is about saving souls. If that was the case, the church wouldn’t have hours of operation. (You say that’s Gods money) Well God’s money goes through the hands of man before it reaches Him. I have never seen God cashing a check either. And why would He need money, He is the ruler of all. And the hands of man are corrupt. And I don’t know what church you may go to, but when you see your pastor driving a brand new Mercedes every year while he is putting all the elderly on a bus to be driven home. For the price of that Mercedes he could have bought every last one of the people on the bus a car. If we were the Christians that we claim to be this world would be totally different. The pastor is God’s servant. So therefore he should be working all the time. You say well that pastor has a life too; not if he abides by the fact that everything he does is for God. You have to go to church to get God’s word. Look at it this way. If I told Pastor A, hey tell your people that I have this great gift for them all they have to do is this-. Pastor A is going to tell you what I said, but he is going to make you believe that you have to go through him to get this gift. The truth is, salvation is a gift from God, and He decides who He gives it to. You can’t go to church for that. I don’t care what you think you can’t do, it is never enough. A pastor or a preacher or whomever can’t deem you righteous enough to receive that gift. It is your personal relationship with Him. The Bible was written to control people. Can you imagine what we would be like with no law, without any morale? We would be a world of chaos (not to say we aren’t already) but it could be a lot worse.
But we take scripture and we twist it to fit our daily lives. Now if your husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend cheated on you. What would you do, after you raised all kinds of hell? Well you probably would leave them; they wouldn’t be worthy enough for your love, Right? The reason why that person cheated was probably because they thought they could get away with it. I bring that up because, I hear people say all the time, “I put God first, then my family, and then my job. But we sin, knowingly everyday. And we know better. We know what’s right and wrong. But, we cheat God on a daily basis. Why, because, there is no consequence. I can do what I want to do and then go to church on Sunday. Back then sin was punishable by death.

The Bible is not the proof of God. It is the revelation of God.

Christians don't live by proof but by faith. Our "proof" is seeing God act in our lives just as the whole Bible teaches He will act.....and we will act. Our "proof" is having gotten to know Him and seeing that He is as real , and often moreso than what most people beleive about life and themselves.

I like to think of it this way. How do we know that the wind blows?? We can 't see wind..... all we can see or feel is the results of the wind. Yet we know that there is wind. We can't see god but we can see the results of god. We can see an envioramental system that works to exact perfection. Nothing manmade is absolutely perfect. Stop and realize all the things that are happening this moment. I have a cut healing on my arm right-now. I am not repairing it myself.....there is some invisible intellegence that is healing it. watch an acorn turn into a gigantic tree. or watch a child grow. This invisible organizing intellegence is god.....it is in every single living thing on this planet and others.

The bible is proof that Paul was a male chauvinist homophobe. That is all the bible is proof of. There is no proof either way of the existence of God.

You can read about the historicity of the Bible or any other religious text and decide for yourself. Start reading and put on your thinking cap! It is fascinating to read what historians, philosophers, theologians and anthropologists say about the topic of religion, the condept of god, and the holy books. Have fun on your quest!

Its not, its just a compilation of religious and mythological texts written by a lot of different people over the course of a couple of centuries. A lot of it is stupid.
