Absolutely not. The date was chosen in an effort to get pagans to convert their own celebration of the "return of the sun" to the "birth of the Son". A little bit of sugar makes the medicine go down.

Christmas is the day selected to honor His birth. The date is not known. I hate to keep bringing up Constantine. But I believe that there was an attempt made to merge Christianity with paganism. Actually I read recently that it was the birth of the pagan god Mithra. Also that the gifts and the greenery were borrowed from pagan celebrations.
I am happy that we honor His birth. Just as we honor anyone's birth. I don't see why that should make so many people mad. I don't have to celebrate St Patrick's Day or Groundhog day. But there is no reason to get mad at all those that do. It is a free country. I've been in a workplace where we celebrated Halloween with a witch centerpiece and Christmas with a Christmas Tree and a Christmas Play and if my friend who is Jewish wanted a menorah to celebrate his holiday we would have been glad to oblige him.
Following is my Christmas poem for this year for any like myself who love and honor Jesus.
Jesus Lives in me
I do not need the Christmas light. I do not need the holly bright.
Don't need to wait to buy a gift, or buy a Christmas tree.
Instead of lights upon a tree, I'll let Him shine His light in me.
Do all I can for all I meet. I'll be a candle burning bright,
pointing to the One True Light, every day and every night,
Jesus lives in me.
Such joy He gives, such love and joy and peace!
Everytime He fills my heart, I'll let it overflow.
I want the whole world to know, what Jesus means to me.
He is a candle shining bright. He is the One True Light.
He's everything to me.
It matters not what day He's born. He lives within my heart.
Ever and always, every day.
Jesus lives in me.
He is a glowing fire. He is a candle burning bright.
I'll celebrate Him every day.
I'll celebrate Him every night.
He is the One True Light.
Jesus Lives in me.

No, it doesn't give Jesus' birthdate in the Bible. Back in the 3rd and 4th century AD there were writers who did state Jesus was born on December 25. Cyril of Jerusalem (348-386) had access to the original, Roman birth census, which also documented that Jesus was born on the 25th of December! It has been claimed that Christmas is a Christianized version of several pagan mid-winter festivals. While several pagan religions did celebrate mid-winter festivals close to the 25th of December, Jesus and His Jewish people celebrated another holiday at this season (John 10:22). Christmas is more likely to be an entirely Christian holiday, complete with lights and merrymaking, inspired by its Jewish counterpart: Chanukah, celebrated every winter from the 25th of Kislev in the Jewish calendar.

I have read many scholars who believe Christ was born either in the Spring or around August/September. Nowhere in the Bible does it state his birth occurred on the 25th of December. Though I reason that this is just as good a day as any to celebrate it.

No the original Bible does not say that Jesus was born on Dec 25.At that time there was no a record on his birthday.According to Ms Irene Handono formerly a Catholic in her book "Islam Claimed" a christmas day was the celebrity day of the Roman people who worshipped the sun.The writer of Bible inserted this annual celebration into Bible as the birthday of Jesus.

Actually it's in the later part of April. The Wisemen "found" Jesus on December 24th. The bible never says that he was a newborn, just that he was in swaddling clothes, which infants wore until they were walking. The star the Wisemen may have seen was probably a supernova, and one was documented in Chinese lore at about the same time.
I know, I know. I'm not Christian, so I shouldn't be talking, but who cares? I know the stories, too.

Could have been in August but likely in September. If you look at the time frame of John the baptist's birth and follow it out to Jesus' birth it is logical to be in either month. It really doesn't matter as the date is not entirely relevant. It is more about the fact that we celebrate his birth and commemorate it because of his awesome message and the miracles of his life and death.

No it is not in December and it is not in August. His birth took place in the Hebrew month that would be our late September- early to mid October. Just go on line and do some research, you will be amazed at what you will find.

December 25th is just the date that the Church has set aside as the date to observe the birth of Christ. It is not the actual date of his birth. Not everything has to be by the "book".

august -- nah, always heard arpil.
tie then was not as it is now -it was not tracked. i doubt many people truly believe Jesus birthday was on 12.25, it however the day we celebrate it to honour HIm. unfortunately some have choosen to besmerch the true meaning.
put it this way.... my grandfather was born in 1897 or 1895 he couldn't remember. he was born in september - knew because of the season in which they celebrated when he was a lttle kid. we opted to celebrate in on 9.15 - middle of the month. when he younger he was working the famr - birthdays were not "celebrated" as they are here. then he immigrated kept no record of such things. gracious.... he never even knew his parents first names - he thought they were John & Mary and until we did some research - never know - they were mom & dad and to others Mr & Mrs.
