you should definitely wait atleast two weeks if not three. especially if you'll be in a lake or river. your tattoo could become infected. also note that sunscreen does not protect your tattoo from sun damage. the ink can and will still be broken down over time when exposed to the sun. protect your tattoos from the sun whenever possible.

You don't want to swim (or hot tub) until your tattoo has healed-- which means it's no longer scabbed over and/or flakey. What happens if you swim before that is that the scabs get too wet and come off, leaving you with a faded and patchy tattoo that needs retouching. Think of the scabs as bandages that help to keep the color in and infection out.

Me and my boy got a couple of tats and we play football, and we played with new ones all the time. But if you are talking about going swiming you need to hold on for about two weeks. Cause your tat wont be closed all the way. An it will hurt like hell if you jump in a pool like that but maybe the vaseoline will protect it.

MAYBE!

I was told to stay out of swimming pools and stuff like that for about two weeks after getting my tattoo.
