not only for private sale but also in the military. like the newest, best, most advanced HANDGUN. I already know about the new HK Mk. 23 thats replacing the Colt in spec ops, but im asking for something in a 9mm spectrum, also possibly a 45. caliber. the problem is that theres alot of stuff out there. what can you guys and girls suggest?

when i was in the military i carried a m9 (beretta 92fs 9mm). some complianed that they didn't care for them for varies reasons. i didn't mind it though. if i could carry anything it would be a .45 (colt). really i think its all about preference (kick, weight, etc..) and utilization (what are you using it for).
like the pp said, i would do some research first. maybe take a trip to the range before making a final decision. good luck!

All these answers are pretty good, I still carry my old S&W model 19 from 30 years ago. My recommendation is go to a store that has an indoor shooting range and try a variety of weapons. Check out the diffeent makes of the same caliber, check out the different calibers as well. You will pick up one that just feels right, shoots well, you will know.

There are about a dozen factor to consider when trying to determine the best handgun. There are many different uses and desired functions. For example: I love my Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Magnum. Awesome gun. It sucks to carry that gun in my motorcycle jacket. So I carry my S&W 357 5 shot hammerless. Cant recall the model number. I have no specific answer for your search.

Glock 19,23, 24l awesome guns. 3 point safety, and durability is outstanding. Also, I recently went to the range and shot the new Ruger 40 cal's, one was great, very light, but the L model sucked(its not a good sign that your first chambered round jams), i dunno....head to a local range and shoot up some hardware. It seems lately all gun makers are going back to basics and useability.
Lots of promise in the upcoming Kel-Tec stuff too...
sry all the while here i was going on you shopping around for one. DOH!

the military has been using the M9 9mm handgun... its a pretty good pistol.. however there are MANY new guns being made and it depends on what you want it for... a 44 has alot of power but a 9mm is more accurate in rapid firing... just depends.. a 357 is faster and has more punch.. but 44MAG has more knockdown power but not as fast.... theres alot to learn with guns.. educate yourself first then decide on what you like the best....

Depends on what you want it for.

For Grizzley country the S&W .500
For Home protection and concealed carry nothing under a .38 Special

You can never go wrong with any incarnation of the 1911
