Hell actually was not even part of the Christian Bible until many centuries following Jesus' death.

True it is a stupid story. Because hell is not about torture ect... It doesnt say any of that in the Bible. the "pit" of fire is simply a place that will be for destroying(completely to ash) satan, his demons and those of his followers. Most people believe they are christian because they dont know any better. They asked for forgiveness, or were baptised or both. The fact is true christians know better. The stories of fear about hell was made up by demons and accepted into the catholic church along with a lot of other pagan practices. these other denominations are all just following suit with tradition. But Jesus taught against these traditional beliefs.

Hmmm. While there is no evidence of any of the things mankind has been preaching to mankind for the purposes of tyranny and monopoly, there is an equal lack of evidence of the ability of mankind to have created mankind and the universe mankind is in.
Two scientists and a politician were outside of a laboratory patting each other on the back and celebrating their work. The politician said, "That's it, we've done it, we don't need God anymore!". Then God (who is always listening) decided to reply and asked "What do you mean you don't need me?" So one of the scientists explained they had the technology to create life out of inert matter by using elements to create DNA and then combining them into a zygote and growing a human being in an artificial womb. God said, "Show me." The scientists looked at each other, and the politician gave them a "you better or you won't get funded" look, so one of the scientists bent down to get some material for the elements when God stopped him and said, "No, no! Get your own dirt".
To this I could add part 2; "Then the politician went to hell and the scientists became dirt". But nah, God loves the scientists too. So they're okay. The politician on the other hand...
Now isn't it more fun to believe in hell?

First of all, not all Christians are "nutty" - some of them might be, but not all. And second of all, you don't go to hell for not believing what Christians tell you. It's fine if you think it's stupid, but it's not fine to mock people's beliefs. If you can believe what you want to believe, then other people can believe what they want to believe. If believing humans came from a "magical garden" is stupid, then isn't believing the universe came from an explosion of matter and anti-matter and all that stupid? My point is that anyone can believe what they want to believe, without it really being stupid....we'll never know what's true - in this life, anyway...

It would be helpful to put together some of the different religious principles and dogmas side to side and compare them:
Buddha walked out of his mother side and started walking and talking immediatly.
Mohammed flew directly to heaven on a winged horse.
If you kill infidels you will go directly to heaven and meet 72 virgins.
God gave the Jews their homeland and considered them their chosen people. He handed the Ten Commandments directly to Moses on Mount Sinai.
Jesus was born from a virgin and resurected after his death on the cross.
He is physically present in the communion wafer.
You can only go to Heaven if you are a Christian, even though many people in the world never had the opportunity to know about Jesus.
You can't even make this stuff up.
I sincerely believe that all those religious ideas and dogmas will rapidly fade away. In fact, they are fading away very rapidly with increased access to information by greater and greater numbers of people.
When all this finally goes away, we'll see its greatest consequence and benefit : peace on Earth !

For heaven's sake... understand the concept of Hell and Heaven(;-)
Understanding the whole concept of Heaven? Heaven that is also called as Swarga in Hinduism is the stage when our Atman the soul within waits for a suitable body for it to manifest again. This Atman the soul within has a balance of positive merits due to which it remains in heaven (Swarga).
Any Atman the soul within that has a negative balance of merits is awarded hell, also known as Naraka in Hinduism. Naraka (hell) is also the stage when our Atman the soul within is in waiting for the next manifestation to occur.
Briefly, it can be stated, that if we have the balance of positive merits from zero to plus hundred we shall be awarded the stage of Heaven (Swarga) after our "Atman, The soul Within" has left the mortal frame. However if the balance of merits is between zero and minus hundred our Atman the soul within shall be given a place in hell (Naraka).
Heaven (Swarga) and hell (Naraka) are interim stages in the cosmic Life cycle of our Atman the soul within. The moment this Atman the soul within gets matching parents on Mother Earth... it shall again manifest a body... the body can be that of a Human Being and also of an animal depending upon the balance of merits or demerits possessed by the Atman.
As stated clearly in the Bhagavad Gita... the foremost of all sacred scriptures (the doctrine dictated by Lord Krishna to King Arjuna in the battlefield of Mahabharata between the Pandavas and the Kauravas... no Atman the soul within can directly gain immortality from Heaven.
Lord Krishna is considered as an Avatar (a direct incarnation of God) in Hinduism. He descended on Mother Earth roughly 1000 years before Bhagwan Mahavira, 1077 years before Gautama Buddha, about 1500 years before Jesus Christ and about 1700 years before the advent of Prophet Mohammed. Hell was made up by "leaders" to scare people into behaving.
"Do what we say or you will go to hell"
God's a lot more loving than that. I can't fathom God threatening and scaring people.
God is love.
I like the Easter Bunny by the way.......we need more warm and fuzzy things

Stupidity is what causes questions that are nothing more than thinly veiled insults....much like this one. If you do not agree with the faith I follow that is fine, but you do not need to insult my intelligence on that grounds. Oh and I do not tell anyone they are going to Hell because My God said to not judge anyone else's iniquities unless I have none of my own to deal with.

Not really, there are people who have died and gone to hell and heaven and came back to tell the story. People who didn't even believe in either one. Check out http://www.near-death.com/.
