He also defeated the great Azumah Nelson among some other very good fighters. He was a great fighter and despite his untimely death will still go down in boxing history as an all time great.

Sanchez was the best featherweight with all the technical skills around....changing the style of the "typical mexican fighter." He had great speed, awesome boxing skills, effective aggression, power in both hands and stamina like no other. Roy Jones Jr. always talks about how Sanchez is one of his favorite fighters of all time. Sadly he died in a car crash at age 23. Very, very young....

One of his greatest fights was that with young Azhuma Nelson where he won by 15th round Dramatic KO in his last fight before he died. Azhuma went on to be a great fighter himself.

The other classic fight was vs. Wilfredo Gomez of Puerto Rico....Gomez had a killer record of 32 wins with 32 KOs before Salvador Sanchez met him..... and Sanchez Knocked him out.
