The person who signed as being legally responsible for any unpaid bills is the one they will go after to collect. I am not sure that they can hold you legally responsible if you were under 18 at the time. You can file a dispute with the credit bureau. They have 30 days to investigate and reach a finding. You could tell them that you were not 18 at the time and are not legally responsible for the debt. You can also contact the creditor and explain that you were under 18 at the time and are not responsible for the debt. The creditor could straighten this out very quickly with the credit reporting agency.

If you are under 18, things could appear on your report. There are horror stories of kid's credit being ruined by parent's putting phone bills in their name and not paying. If you are under 18, you should dispute any negative items on your report.

How to Fix = Pay. Do not try to open any credit until this is paid. Getting new credit does not improve your credit when you have negative items.

if you were under 18 at the time of the medical care, then i think you'll be ok. companies can't give out credit cards to minors, i think this kind of falls into the same category.

If you are under 18 then no legal contract is valid. For example if you had a credit car that you didnt pay for......you are not responsible for it.
