My first reaction was my breath is smelling, and I knew that couldn't be the case since I had just brushed, floss and gargle mouth wash before we met. Then I realize it was from a twin pack and he took one and he gave one to me. He isn't rich and he not able to give me any extravagant gifts, so I did not get upset and accepted as a tender moment.

Well I'm a guy but let me tell you. If he did that then he's either not good with gifts (in which case drop subtle hints at what you like that's reasonable) or he's not got much money and does what he can, however a pack of gum? That seems pretty cheap of him, Hang in there and see if it's being bad at presents or just being cheap.
