The only foods you'll find artificial sweeteners in are diet drinks and sugar free sweets. Diet drinks and sweets really aren't all that healthy, anyway. Instead of diet drinks, stick to water. Water is so much better for you. As for sweets, a small amount of a regular treat is a better craving buster than fake stuff any day. Even better, try eating fruit when you have a sugar craving.
Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. Vegetables especially are very low calorie, so you can eat a lot more. I lost 30 pounds by eating reasonable foods - regular cereal, veggies for snacks, brown rice, whole wheat bread and pasta instead of regular, and nearly total elimination of high calorie, high sugar foods. I say nearly because when I wanted chocolate, I had chocolate. I just shared a bar with three other people. The most important thing was portion control. For two weeks, measure and write down everything you eat. This will help you get a sense of the correct portions, and how much stuff you eat without thinking about it. After two weeks you will be able to eyeball portion sizes, and catch yourself before eating junk.
I really hate the word "diet" used as a verb. It's a noun. It isn't something you do, it just IS. Your "diet" is the foods you consume, not the process of losing weight. By this I mean that you need to make a permanent change to your eating habits, not just change them when you think you should lose weight.
Finally, you need to increase your activity level. Do you work out? Start walking. You don't even have to make major commitment. Next time you go to the store, park as far from the door as possible and walk. Take your groceries out to your car, then walk the cart all the way back to the store, then back to the car. If you're getting just a few things at the store, don't use a cart. Not only will the extra weight burn a few more calories, it will keep you from picking up extra stuff you don't really need. Take a walk at lunch time, even if it's just around the block. Never take the elevator - always take the stairs. Find ways to work a little extra activity into your everyday routine.
