I recently posted a question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqOJchK5qcsEoTNQdC..0o3zy6IX?qid=20061130160923AAyjGct

I got some good answers but there are a lot who took it as a personal attack. Why? Was I describing you?

I had Atheists assume Im Christian, Christians assume Im Atheist, a few assume Im a bad person. The answer I was looking for was "both have some people like this, but not all of them are." and I got that answer a few times (thanks people) But what was with the defensiveness and personal attacks?

I undertstood where you were going with your question.

Most people in R&S are already in a defensive state. Anything that even remotely describes their state of being, or the perceived state of their antagonist will be interpreted as such.

I thought it was a very good question, and quite illuminating.

I think a lot of people here are just on the defensive and feel like they're being attacked no matter what because they're so used to aggressers on both sides asking attack questions. I noticed there's a lot of assumption in this section, too. Don't feel bad - I asked a question earlier and some guy assumed I was trying to get everyone to do my homework for me. LOL! I haven't been in school for years. I was just asking a question. I guess it's just the nature of some people to make some really wild assumptions.

I'm not trying to criticize you, that list you have is about 2 or 3 grade reading comprehensive level. John 1-18 It's John the Baptist speaking. Jhon was the voice declaring the coming of the Messiah, No one had seen the Messiah. KJV John 1-18 "No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is the bossom of the Father, He hath declared Him." Did you miss ;the only begotten Son. John the Baptist was speaking about Jesus, and No one had seen Jesus yet. This one I love the Bible has unicorns in it. Nobody seems to know that shepards formed young goats horns so they would grow into one sharp straight horn, thus unicorns, they did that because it made the goat far more powerful against predators. Then Daniel rides a unicorn in a dream and it's mane was flowing, yes male unicorn goats had manes. But people think it's a magical horse and therefore Bible is a fairy tale. The unicorn billy goat had protective powers for the herd and it was real. Got to be careful how you read the Bible and understand the times they live.

"both have some people like this, but not all of them are."

Exactly, why do ppl Stereotype is my question?! Everyone has their own opinion/beliefs or whatever but they should control it and show some respect, that's the real problem.

I did not take it as a personal attack. I thought you described humans pretty well with your question.

Religion, like politics, is a very touchy subject. You gotta be careful what you say.
