First, you need to hold your kitty firmly (but not too tight) - in your lap works because you can use your body to hold him as well as your hands.
Gently open his mouth and slide the pill in - start massaging his throat RIGHT AFTER the pill is in- this will stimulate the throat to swallow.
Once the pill is down - give him a yummy treat as a reward for being so good. :)

I don't trust that woman either! What on Earth was she doing, telling you to use flea powder?! That's not even good for an adult cat, never mind a tiny kitten! The only safe product that actually works for kittens under 8 weeks old, is Frontline spray. Get some from a vet. It can be used on kittens from 2 days of age, it's safe and it will kill all fleas on your kitten and keep them gone for about a month. Vinegar doesn't do anything, I think you probably just washed off some of them that were there and then she got reinfested right away - yes I would change her blanket often, but I would also spray your house - not with anything from a petshop! There are fleas living in your house now, so you will continue to see them - if you Frontline your kitten she's covered, but you'll still continue to see the fleas that are in the house. And yes, she's too young for vaccinations, these are from 9 weeks in a kitten! Chalice

Approaching the kitten from behind, wrap your hand over his head, covering his eyes. With that same hand, you are going to use your thumb and middle finger to open his mouth. You do this by placing those fingers directly behind his canine teeth - his mouth will automatically open. Using your other hand, push the pill into the back of his mouth, as far as you can. Using the holding hand, re-position your fingers to go under his chin, puff a small breath of air into his face and you should see his tongue dart out (a sign that he has swallowed). The object with holding his mouth closed isn't to grasp it tight, just tight enough so he doesn't open his mouth and also so you can hold him there while you do the puff of air. Also, stroking the neck will make them swallow, too. I like the puff of air better, it seems to work faster and more often. Good luck.
BTW - if you try to hide it in something, it may end up being wasted because the cat may not eat the food. Pilling the kitten is a guaranteed way to know the whole pill dosage was consumed.

The best way to pill a cat is just to pry open the mouth , shove the pill down as far as you can, close the mouth and rub the throat to encourage swallowing. BTW- tapeworms are caused by ingesting fleas so make sure to get the fleas off the kitten or she will get them again.

Don't panic! If the kitty doesn't get it for a few more days he is not in great danger. It's a one-time deal I think. You can just run him by the vet office and a tech can give it to him.
I use the $5 pill-popper you can get at a pet store or from the vet. You just load up your "gun", go in from the side of the mouth, get it as far back in the throat as you can and "shoot".

With any pills that I've had to give my cats, I've wrapped the pill in a little bit of cheese (or whatever his fave human snack may be...bread, meat, etc) and when he's eating it, the pill should go down with it. I have had some experiences when I've had to repeat the process a few times because the pill dropped out. That's why I prefer to use cheese because it's got sticking potential. Good luck! =)

If your quick you can force his mouth open and toss the pill way back in his throat and then gently hold his mouth closed and massage under his chin until he licks his nose, this indicates he has swallowed. OR you can crush it up in something he really likes like salmon or tuna and get it into him that way. Tape worms are nothing to freak about and the pill will take care of them just fine. Good luck

The better way to firmly hold your cat and open your cat's jaw from the sides and with a bit of luck pop the pill down the throat. Make sure the cat swollows it. It will take several tries.

Find some kind of food or liquid that you can coat the pill with and open your cats mouth is put the pill towards the end of the cats mouth. Once in, hold it's mouth shut and rub his neck to try to make it swallow.
