You could use an actual steamer, or just put it in a covered pot with about an inch of water in the bottom. Boil it till it's tender. You won't be able to tell the difference of cooked like that or steamed.

Put a pot of water with a little salt in it on the boil on the stove. Grab a metal or plastic sieve/coriander, put the broccoli in it, pop it on top of the boiling water and let the steam from the water steam it. The colour will brighten and get more vivid (shouldn't take more than a few minutes). If you want to hurry it up, you can cover the coriander with a lid, which will trap the steam in, but watch out or the broccoli will get soggy. When it's done, just pull it off and eat it! Yum!

These are all good answers. But here's the best way. Use a vegetable steamer. Fill pot with water to bottom of steamer, or half way up pot if using a steamer pot. Steam broccoli until tender, usually five minutes. You can buy a folding steamer for about six dollars at Walmart.

The way i do it is i put water in a pot and i put the broccoli in a colander and place it in the pot and then cover. Let it simmer til the broccoli is tender enough to your liking. I like to add a little lemon juice and pepper to the broccoli for flavor and add a little bit of cabbage, green beans, potatoes and carrots. Since the brocolli and g. beans cook the fastest i put them after the potatoes and carrots are semi done.

One of my top 3 veggies!

If you're using fresh broccoli, trim the stems and cut into desired pieces. Add to a large sauce pan, add 1" of water, heat to boiling, cover, reduce heat to low and steam 5-7 minutes.

Poke the stem with a fork to check tenderness. I prefer slightly crisp. Leftovers are wonderful for stir-fries!

put broccoli in a strainer, hang the strainer over a pot filled with water. Don't let the water touch the broccoli. Place lid on pot
