Nada, nil, just goes to show how deeply committed the Muslims are in the Islamic religion. Too bad Pres Bush did not study or absorbed in his limited intelligence the history of the crusades, now we are bogged in Iraq and at the end, if there is an end, the sacrifices of the mained and the deaths of the US troops would have been for nothing.

One come to mind. Fighting the crusades gave European countries lessons and experiance in the complexlogistical operations needed to supply a large military force far from its home nation. These lesson would be put to use with the conquest of the New World.
It also saw the formation of the Knights Templar and other military organizations.
It could also be argued that the Crusades provided the catalyst which lead to the rise of Salah al-Din (Saladin).

There were little if no gains in the "Middle East", left Europe in a turmoil and the people of Islam pissed. Religion has caused the death of more people than any other cause. The only major accomplishment was to destroy the Middle East learning centers, which provided much in the way of our modern knowledge, for cities like Baghdad were great centers of learning, math astronomy, medicine. What a great loss

In the long run, absolutely zero. Except for results of plots and counterplosts in governments in Europe.
Other results? The reputation of Christianity took a dive.

Many millions dead in the name of Christianity.
Or should I say an invisable man who lives in the sky.
And since the crusades the followers of this particlular invisable man who lives in the sky have killed millions more in his name...........what a belief!

Major loses. It was more of trying to drive muslims out of European countries and killing off un-loyal knights than killing all of the muslims down by eygpt and byzantium
