I've heard that some of these companies are complete scam, rather than simply an over-priced service for something anyone can do themselves. Has anyone heard anything bad about Lexington?

You know I was gonna sign up with them, but I can tell you they are a scam. They will stretch sending those dispute letters for a long time so you have to keep paying them monthly-

You can do what they do by sending the letters and disputing your credit errors by yourself. It is very easy. I just got a judgment taken off last week.
Sign up with www.truecredit.com

Then look for the errors-
make 3 copies of your credit report and highlight all the errors
send one copy of your report to each of the credit agencies(trans union, equifax, expirian)
Also write a head letter for each credit agency

heres a sample letter(customize it to each credit agency)

Credit Report Dispute Letter

Date

Complaint Department
Name of Company
Address
City, State, Zip Code

Re: Your Name
Your Date of Birth
Your Social Security Number

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing to dispute the following information in my credit report; I have circled the items I dispute on the attached copy of my credit report.

Item 1: (identify item by name of source (i.e.
creditor) and type of item (i.e. credit card account, judgment, etc.) This item is (inaccurate or incomplete) because (describe what is inaccurate or incomplete and why). I am requesting that the item be removed (updated, modified, etc.) to correct the information.

Item 2: (if applicable, etc.)

Enclosed are copies of documents (i.e payment records, court documents, cancelled checks, etc.) which support my dispute of the above-referenced item(s). Please reinvestigate this (these) matter(s) and (delete or correct) the disputed item(s) as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Your name
Your Address

cc: creditor(s)

Enclosures: (List what you are enclosing)

Mail this letter along with a copy of your printed credit report to each agency:

Do not dispute any bad credit that is not listed under that agency. For example if you have a credit error with transunion and its not listed with equifax, you dont want to send a dispute letter to equifax because this will only cause the creditor to possibly make a report to equifax.

Send your letters First class mail and always keep all copies of what you sent and receipts that you did in fact mail your disputes.

This way you have proof of the exact day you mailed your claim . The credit agency has 30 days to do the investigation or bye bye baby the debt gets deleted.

Here is another letter for your creditors to demand proof of your debt:This was emailed to me by another yahoo board member and it is great:
Sample letter to creditors

This letter is being sent to you in response to a notice sent to me on December 16, 2005. Be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 (b) that your claim is disputed and validation is requested.
This is NOT a request for “verification” or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above named Title and Section. I respectfully request that your offices provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you.
Please provide me with the following:
• What the money you say I owe is for;
• Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe;
• Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe;
• Please evidence proof of the alleged debt, including specifically the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature.
• Prove the Statute of Limitations/UCC has not expired on this account
• Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state.
• Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent

At this time I will also inform you that if your offices have reported invalidated information to any of the 3 major Credit Bureau’s (Equifax, Experian or TransUnion) this action might constitute fraud under both Federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found on any of my credit reports by your company or the company that you represent I will not hesitate in bringing legal action against you for the following:
• Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act
• Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
• Defamation of Character

If your offices are able to provide the proper documentation as requested in the following Declaration, I will require at least 30 days to investigate this information and during such time all collection activity must cease and desist.
Also during this validation period, if any action is taken which could be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult with my legal counsel for suit. This includes any listing any information to a credit reporting repository that could be inaccurate or invalidated or verifying an account as accurate when in fact there is no provided proof that it is.
If your offices fail to respond to this validation request within 30 days from the date of your receipt, all references to this account must be deleted and completely removed from my credit file and a copy of such deletion request shall be sent to me immediately.
I would also like to request, in writing, that your offices make no telephone contact to me or to my place of employment. If your offices attempt telephone communication with me, including but not limited to computer generated calls and calls or correspondence sent to or with any third parties, it will be considered harassment and I will have no choice but to file suit. All future communications with me MUST be done in writing and sent to the address noted in this letter by USPS.

us the option with truecredit report.com for a monthly membership. This way for 14.00 you can check your report continusly .

By doing all this will give you control of getting your report fixed
By using lexington Law You have no control and you wont be able to tell if what Lexington Law is doing for you.

The only thing this will cost you by doing it yourself is paying for your credit report and your time. This does take time and patients. However it will help you learn the credit system and will help you learn how to take better care of your credit and be more responsible in the future.

Doing the disputes myself has taught me a great deal about the credit system and I can say I am earning better credit everyday-

You all are so full of BS... I did use Lexington Law. I started on Oct 1, by Dec 31 - I went from a 525 to a 740.. By the end of February i was at an 860. I was able to purchase 2 new vehicles and a Diesel Motor Coach. Vehicles at a 1.2% interest and the motor coach at a 3% interest. I am in the middle of securing a home mortgage. My credit was completely cleaned up in less than 5 months. ANd it didn;t cost very much either. I was under $500 for their services. So you all can say want you want. I know for a fact that Lexington Law is 100% honest in their dealings. There were time that I needed to lend a hand as I had a couiple debts that I setteled at a lesser fee to close the account. That is the wrong think to do. The creditor will not accept a letter to remove the negative. You must call the creditor or the company that handled the negative credit, in my case it was Grant & Weber. I called them. Asked them if i can pay ofdf the balance that was owed. They had to contact the initial company. The initial company said yes we will reopen the case. And that is how I got that one removed and with the help of Lexington Law. (Suprise, the remaining fee was only $18.64. Think about it. In my past i setteled for a reduction of the fee for $18.64, I was an idiot to have done that. SO do not discredti Lexinigton Law, if you did not lend a hand in helping them clean some of the bad credit that was out of their control. (Like this very topic I just discussed in this post)... Repairing credit is not cheap and can get expensive. For me it was a heavy weight lifted. Move forward as you will, but don't knock Lexington Law if y ou did not allow their program to full work, or you did not lift a hand to help them in areas that were out of their control.

Why fixing something artificial when you get a loan with a bad credit?

I lost my job a few month ago and got a 18 month loan without any problems. Now I am back on my feed and very thankful that I got that loan at the time:

http://loans-without-repaired.badcreditloansway.net

Use the search function if the results don't show up right away.
Make sure to check out all alternatives and compare the different offered loans, some are good and some are better.

Good luck!

The truth is anyone can dispute their credit report. Just like Spencer D mentioned, you can do it yourself, but in reality it can be outsourced to to a credit repair company for many reasons; don t make time, don t have time, enjoy other people handling it, etc.The truth is MOST people will not repair their own credit report even when they know how to. Yes there are some scam credit repair companies out there, however there are legitimate ones as well. Each person should decide how they want to handle it. The key is to just do it so you can purchase at a reasonable rate as well as leave a legacy for your Family to follow:)

For people who may want a reliable company (12 years of customer satisfaction) to assist them, please note our company offers a protection plan that includes credit restoration, credit attorney (for illegitimate credit collection calls, etc violations by creditor) wills, powers of attorney, trust, credit monitoring, and so much more for $87 a month or you can purchase (1) year of Credit Restoration for $499.

To those interested in repairing yourself, or have a dynamic company assisting you, I wish you the best in repairing your credit:) Dare to do greater things for yourself and your Family in 2016!

It seems many people don't know what the definition of a scam is. I used them, and they were fine. They were up front and honest about their fees and I knew I could do it myself, however, me paying them was worth me not having to do it and ensuring that it was done the right way. By this definition of a scam every company ever would be a scam, because, you could do anything yourself that people are charging you to do. My credit score went up and we were good. I think it's a little high at 100 a month, there might be a cheaper option out there for you, but with the legitimacy I was ok with it.

Congress established the CFPB to protect consumers by carrying out federal consumer financial laws.
•Write rules, supervise companies, and enforce federal consumer financial protection laws
•Restrict unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices
•Take consumer complaints
•Promote financial education
•Research consumer behavior
•Monitor financial markets for new risks to consumers
•Enforce laws that outlaw discrimination and other unfair treatment in consumer finance
(wonder if this is a case of overlap government functions?)

You need to check out this video on how to increase your credit score by using a 100% legal loophole. Here is the video URL: http://www.creditscoresecret.org

I was able to get to 595 from 489 in just one day and from 489 to 748 in just a few week; that's pretty fast in my book. Good luck!
