You are right. Narrow minded and selfish people always resist new technology. There was massive resistance to computers in the beginning as computers were perieved to replace jobs of people.

I think it's unethical and unsubstantiated. Adult stem cells have been shown to be effective but not embryonic ones. The media really needs to stop saying people like me are against stem cell research, that is simply a deceptive half truth. I'm in favor of adult stem cell research and a distinction ought to be made. I have an incurable disease at present but I don't think embryonic stem cells are gonna be some kind of miracle cure for me. I couldn't accept the benefits from them with a clear conscience anyways.

I agree completely, but you have to think about what stem cell research to lead to, mainly cloning or genen enhancement/reinforcing. That is a major moral concern for people as I could safely say that most people do not feel comfortable with humans creating life or altering our natural system for creating diversity in our species. But i digress. Again i completely agree with yu and think that stem cells should be continued to be studied as long as there are strict restricitions and control over the group that does it.

i totally agree with you. I have a friend who is in a wheelchair, and he might be able to walk if they would do stem cell research.

The controversy is about whether the government is going to pay for it. Let the big drug companies pay for it. When they make the drugs they will milk us for the cost.
