I've got some containers with a 5 in a triangle but the lids have a 2 in a triangle. They're the right size for individual servings and I think they are safe for freezing, but what about thawing or heating in the microwave? Tell me please, if you know.

There has been some research that plastics and styrofoam used in freezing and heating can cause cancer. A dear friend of mine was told this caused his throat cancer. But it was from burning trash once a week (he live out in the country) and was standing over the fire. Plastics give off some type of dioxins that cause cancer. So is freezing bottled water and reusing the bottles (refilling). Look it up! I use glassware or pyrex in microwave now. (Since I found this out).

I have used any and all of my plastics containers in my microwave and have never had any problem with them. The only thing that you have to watch out for that I have found is if the food contains oil or grease, Like chili, they have a tenancy to want to melt some containers. What I do if I am not sure of something like that I just check every little bit to see if the container is getting a little soft. That is the only thing that I have had happen and removed it right then. I have used a lot of plastic in mine, I'm 50. Watch out putting the lids on them while cooking or heating, I would "lay" the lid on them, don't seal them down. I would rather put a paper towel or something over them than the lid.
