My wife said that her mother shaved her head when she was younger because her hair was fine and wanted it to come out thicker. She believes that shaving (or clipping) your hair when you are a baby will make it thicker. Is this true? I think it is a myth but she is positive it isn't. Who is right?

It is a Myth. Shaving hair does not make it thicker. It may appear thicker when all the hair is growing out at once, but it is an optical illusion. Hair thickness and density is determined by genetics. What you do to the hair once it is out of the follicle does not affect what happens beneath the surface.
