Well, I am a male and I love to cook so I have had that happen numerous times.
But, I do tell them that we are not running a restaurant here so you need to eat whats in front of you, or eat nothing till the next meal, no snacks etc.

Give them some chores to do to get them hungry again.

Or, have them prepare the next meal and they will take alot of pride in doing that, then when they serve their wonder if its edible delicacy, say i am not hungry anymore.
There feeling will be hurt, but then ask them how they like it and that is what you are doing to me.
It should click, the light bulb will turn on, and they will understand.

yeah i know what you mean. i have a 14, 11 and 3 year olds. they can be saying that they are hungry, but when it comes time to eat they aren't hungry any more.
i tell them that if they can't attempt to eat then they aren't going to be getting any treats of any sort ie. desert. this sometimes will make them eat. i just keep being persistant with them.

LoL my man is like a big kid...he is the most fussy person i have ever met. When i buy food for the house, i have to at least buy meat that suits his taste. He hates garlic, doesnt like vegetables, hates fish, pork and hot spices. Even some meat he does like he wont eat that because of the type of cut it is!

I usually buy food that accomodates him, but when i want something he wont eat i buy something seperately for myself that way he wont complain about me cooking it for him. Im now 9 months pregnant and ive told him he needs to expand his tastes.

I dont want him setting a bad example for our kids by not eating his vegetables and whatnot..so im now shoving some things he doesnt like in front of him....I cant help but laugh to myself when we eat together now and he has a scrunched up face because of a serving of beans!

When that happens to me, I tell my daughter that's it for the evening. Some nights she goes to bed hungry, but usually she decided to eat after all.

If she won't eat it one night, it's leftovers for tomorrow. I do NOT believe in wasting food!

never. Try getting new, yet simple recipes from websites like McCormick. I'm only 17 but I've made dinner plenty of times and my family usually likes it alot.

My kids were reluctant to try new things. I find that the grandchildren (so much wiser now) will eat things if they help make it. That is, they will try it! The older they get the more adventurous they get.

Everytime I try to cook something. But I don't blame them. After I sit down and look at the crap I tried to make I lose my appetite, too.
