I've had pot taken and not gotten arrested or been given a ticket. This has happened twice and both times it was really good pot. The one time I got cuaght with cr*ppy pot they wrote me a ticket. I think the cops just take it and sell it or smoke it themselves or worse plant it on someone else. So tell me what you do with it.

It obviousely depends on where you are. I would say if its a small town in California or Oregon then they probably keep it or give it to their friends OR they just thro it out back at the station. In small town depts pee testing is easy to get out of or around or what ever. In most jurisdictions that this would happen the cops aren't watched as closely as in The Big Apple.

Now that the retarded and children have given you the answers you wanted to hear, this is what really happens. A small amount of pot in NYC for personal use is only a violation of the law, not a Misdemenor (Punishable for up to a year in prison) or a Felony (Punishable for over a year in prison). You would recieve a "C" summons for it. After which, the pot is confiscated and "invoiced". Eventually, it, along with any other drugs are sent to special incinerators and burned... (No, those incinerators are not bongs or crack pipes)
Officers are given random drug tests by use of hair sample. (Much more accurate and able to be detected longer in the body than urine samples....up to 3 months longer) If it is detected in an officer, they are FIRED! No rehab, you don't pass go or collect $200. That officer will lose their Medical, Dental, and Retirement benefits. Not worth it for a spliff. Besides, how can the police sell it if there was a summons written? The summons is in lieu of arrest meaning they need evidence... that pot you had which has to be documented and accounted for. I don't believe any officer would go to jail for a bag of weed.
I hope you were just annoyed that you got caught and don't really believe what you wrote or what most of these other knucleheads wrote. Otherwise, I would feel really sorry for you.

Yes, some cops do take it, but then you can't fix stupid can you?? Me, I always gave it the "wind" test right there in front of the person. I'd throw it up in the air and watch the wind blow it away. I NEVER took drugs from anyone unless they were under arrest, otherwise, I destroyed it in front of them just because I didn't want anyone thinking I was doing what you suggested.

it still gets turned into the evidence room the reason no ticket was issued was because there was not enough to make it worth writing the ticket. everything the take gets turned into the evidence room and latter destroyed in a controlled burn

If I catch you with marijuana under a certain amount, I am going to cite you for it, test it to determine that it actually has THC content, book it as evidence, and then send it to the property officer in Narcotics division, where they hold it either as evidence for a trial, or it is held until the next "burn day," when all confiscated narcotics that are no longer evidentiary are burned.
And no, no one tries to stand down wind of the burn site.
