Hi. I quit vicodin for 8 months, and now I think I am starting to become addicted again. I was taking 9 pills a day at one point, but I was able to quit. I was offered a vicodin last week by my girlfriend for a headache. She doesn't know that I was addicted to them. I accepted her offer, and now I want more. I actually have went a couple days without them, but I have also had days where I have taken them. The cravings are coming back now. Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to how to cope with the guilt I am feeling? Is there a way to ease the withdrawals I am having right now? I know that as long as I can go without the vicodin, the withdrawals will get easier, but is there anything that will help with the temptation and withdrawals NOW?

You can take regular Advil for the pain, and take a anti-diahrreal pill if you have loose stools. I don't know about the guilt, just promise yourself never to do it again. Go on long walks, that helps with cramping and to sweat it out. Pretend that you have the flu, withdrawl is a lot like having the flu. Diphenhydramine (Benedryl) works too. All of this is over the counter. Also try making poppy seed muffins, I've heard that helps somewhat.

I was severly depressed and became addicted to prescription medication. It didn't matter what kind of pill it was as long as it was prescription. My advice to you would be to speak to someone about your feelings because your probably taking vicodin to numb pain from some aspect of your life. Find out why you are hurting and you won't have to use pills to fix it. Also, be honest with your girlfriend and maybe just admitting to her that there is a problem could be all the help you need.

How about going to a rehab? It might be the best thing for you.
