It is because of the damn media. They constantly shove down everyones throats that you need to be a size 2 in order to be beautiful. I do not believe this at all. But a lot of people do. When you turn on the tv, or a movie, or open a magazine, all you see is skinny pretty women. It drives me crazy because it is not real. These women also get the best make up, lighting, end photo editing. I'm sick of it, and i hope it changes.

Most plus size woman and overweight men are targets for Insecure people who are unhappy on the Inside and need to put someone else down and overweight people have been the targets for years,I look at the Inside and I am overweight now and had this conversation with some peole at a church that I went to,and I said to them that Jesus looks at the heart wich Is the Inside not the outside and there Is a song that goes along with that too.

People think plus size people are unhappy with there weight, because those people who think that actually need something to make them feel better about themselves. I have run into this same problem with three women at work who spent all day everyday talking about my weight issues (i am a size 16). The funny thing about this is one of them was shorter and bigger than I am. But she continued to make comments about my weight so I could hear her and her 2 buddies every single day. If you are happy and healthy at the size you are, do NOT let others bother you (I know it is hard), but it is really their problem not yours. After all misery loves company!!

Actually, being plus sized DOES mean you are overweight, as far as recommended weight per height/body frame guidelines go. Otherwise you wouldn't be referred to as "plus" sized. However, that doesn't mean anyone thinks you should be a size 2...that's exaggerating a bit.
If you are happy being overweight, that's great...a good attitude and liking yourself goes a long way toward an individual's personal happiness.
I've been "plus" sized myself (size 22) but I was not happy. I made changes and got down to an 8, which is an nice size for me (145 lbs). But that's me. I didn't like how I looked, I didn't like getting winded on little activity, I didn't like having to squeeze into theater or airline seats, I didn't like buying clothing that looked like it was made by a tent-maker, I didn't like legs and feet hurting when I stood at my job all day, and the list could go on.
I think most people realize that overweight people are at greater health risk for certain conditions because of their weight...our society has become so health-concious nowadays that sometimes people will make uninvited comments about another person's size (be they too fat or too thin).
As for Singles & Dating...there are people that prefer more "fit" folks to date, and those that like people with no meat on their bones or a lot of meat on their bones...
Do what works for you...this life is too short to be unhappy with yourself...especially if it's within your power to change it...what other people think, is their issue, not yours.

I think plus size women can be very sexy as long as they dress proper and have the right attitude. If its obesity, then that is a health problem. Some of the sexiest, smartest women i have known have been plus size. If your happy, then what does anyone else think matter.

I dont think plus size people need to lose weight. i know some people wo are plus size and are some of the most drop dead gorgous people i have ever met. we should all be happy with our weight. plus they are now using plus size people as proffessional models because the skinny ones weren't very attractive.

I agree with you but as you know there will always be ignorance. Money, looks, and the things a person has is not everything in life. Loving yourself and loving others is what makes a person. Personally i could care less about someones weight. Its whats on the inside that matters to me.

I think if you are happy with your weight, then don't worry about it. However, most plus sized people are overweight or they wouldn't be plus sized. Extra weight is hazardous to your health and it does have a negative effect on most people's self esteem. If you are happy, you are the only one to please, so enjoy life and don't worry about others. If it starts to affect your health, then you are doing yourself a disservice by ignoring it.

I believe it is because that is what society has taught most people to believe. I do not think body size matters as long as you are happy with who you are.
