Many people believe that genius comes from inside the individual, and that they acquire the title by having something (an inspiration) within themselves that helps the person succeed in what he or she does. Therefore, this quote challenges that idea and gives more merit to the individuals hard work and determination (hence the word sweat) towards what he/she does.

That quote simply means that genius is not something that comes from nowhere. Genius takes a lot of sweat and hard work to accomplish what you are after. Hope that helps!!

This quote, attributed to Edison, focuses of the futility of great ideas without hard work. There are many brilliant ideas in the world, and many great thinkers. There are only a few who have what it takes to bring their ideas to fruition.
