This should give you more info on resolutions.

A small tip - if someone gives you info like 1280X720, ask them to tell you whether its' 480i, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. The more the number the better.

Well you know what SHOCKED ME?

I found out that all HDTV sets....all of them...have a display of 720 lines....EVEN IN 1080i MODE!!!
All sets for the last 3-4 years are NATIVE 720 displays!!

AND NOW the 1080P TV sets are the VERY FIRST TRUE 1080 TVs, with 1080 lines of resolution!!!

Thank God I haven't purchased a HDTV set yet....

Want PROOF? Check out BEST BUY's Website and check the Resolution of any TV....the display will list 720 except for the 1080P units

i think 1080i because 1280X720 i think is just a fancy way of saying 720P
