Neutering pets is the right thing to do, for health and cat population control reasons, but will castration change his personality and turn him into a furry pillow, or just free him from a vexing instinct giving him more time for magic?
Is it even ethical to manipulate his hormonal balance and deprive the world of his spawn?

It depends a lot on what you consider right. I don't consider it ethical to allow him to "have his urges" and cause the death and/or homelessness of loads of kittens, and while I'm not a witch (either through powers or belief), I wouldn't consider it right to have that as a consequence of my not castrating my cat.

Generally speaking, castrated males tend to be more cuddly than castrated females, but I doubt he'd turn into a "furry pillow", as you put it.
As for manipulating his hormonal balance... Would it be ethical to leave him with his sexual desires yet never allow him to "get any"? The final judgment would have to be yours, though. No one else can really make that decision for you.

Hmmm. let me think... Castrate or neuter? do it myself? My cats are all either spayed or neutered by a qualified veterinarian. This does not change the personality of the cat, they are certainly not "furry pillows" tho they are beginning to slow down with age. I have had a hysterectomy and it didn't change me either! They don't make unwanted kittens. They never did perform magick (or at least they didn't tell me about it) And I don't use them in magick. They are my companions and friends. Period. Only one is black. Does this matter?

There is a difference between neutering and castration. Take some time to find out the difference. Neutering is the right thing to do for an animal no matter who owns it.

Well a male cat will develop a (permanent) habit of spraying urine to mark it's territory. Smelly business.
If you want to keep/let him inside you'd better not let him develop that instinct and keep him in his kitten state before he learns it and will continue to do it castrated or not.

I neutered mine and he still works for me.

Plus, I am sure that you will get some gruff and negative comments about Witches, magic, paganism, devil worship and so on but the ones who know what it is all about will give you an honest answer.

Blessings on your path.

Certainly! The testicles must however be maintained in a vinegar solution and brought out ONLY in the full moon when needed for love potions.

5 MILLION cats are euthanized annually. How many of those do you want to be personally and karmically responsible for?

*Casts level 40 firebolt* Go play WoW... I say neuter it...and then go realize that witchcraft is of the devil, as he gives you power in exchange for your soul. I would be careful when going into something evil. You may want to try out the other religions, just my thoughts.
