I read this article online that said that glasses are harmful and would ruin vision for the future. It also happens for soft contacts I guess.

Well, in a matter of speaking. Those of us who are myopic (nearsighted) become so dependent upon our glasses or contacts, that we really can't see without them once we start wearing them.

It might depend. I have worn glasses for 40 years and no damage. My brother wore them only a few months and his sight cleared right up and never wore them again.
So I guess if you are very young you should make sure the eyes do not change. If you get headaches (as my brother did) get your eyes rechecked to see if they changed
I think the article may have been pushing the look through a pinhole device and stregthen your eye muscles.

That's nuts. How are we nearsighted people to see otherwise? I have worn glasses for 25 years, my eyes gradually got a little worse because I aged. That is natural.

Yes. What happens is that your eyes now have a 'tool' which compensates for their lack of strength. This compensation allows the eyes to slack off and become weaker.

um no i am nearsighted, and if glasses were bad for my eyes, my eye docter wouldnt have gave them to me!!

so as far as i know, no, they are NOT bad for you... online, you can read anything, and only God knows if it's truee bc there are so many things online!!!
