Hi, when you were little, didn't your parents have the lump checked out? I'm betting they did, so there is something on record to compare now to then. It could be a cyst, cysts can be hard or soft, the axilla node is located in the armpit, that's one of the main nodes in the body and it can and does swell and hurt for many reasons other than cancer, but you need to rule out cancer, the fact it hurts could be that it is growing, you have lymph congestion in the body from something (allergies, cold, hormonal changes) but you need to get it checked out. I would see a doctor. Do you do your breast exams? Do you notice any lumps? any thick areas? Since you have a family history it would be wise to get it checked out now as an adult. they would probably do an ultrasound on the area to see what it is.

You have lymph nodes in your underarms that become swollen and sore as an indication of inflammation or infection. Don't freak out because most likely it is only an inflammed lymph node. However, the underarm and upper outer corner of the breast is a common site for tumors. So I would see your gynocologist or primary care doctor to have it checked out.

Not likely to be related to the cervical pre-cancer in any case...

i agree with the nurse: it's probably a lymph node, and it's sore when pressed on because you're fighting an infection. It's very common and probably no big deal, but do get it checked out by a doctor just to be safe.

I agree. Likely not cancer but should be checked out by a doctor.

I've noticed that before my period, my armpits are sore also..also if i shave them too often they become tender and sore, expecialy with use of deoderant...also if it is only sore when you put deoderant on, perhaps you should consider an allergy.
