At twelve years old, she shouldn't be expecting Santa to come down the chimney...she's probably old enough to tell you what she wants. Ask her to give you a few ideas about what she really wants and choose one. I remember being that age and getting stuff I didn't really want... I kinda wish I'd asked my parents for specific things... I didn't have a job to make my own money, so birthdays and Christmas were it.

Perhaps she'd like a certain CD or movie... I would think a girl her age would like a subscription to a popular magazine (like Seventeen or YM).

Ask her what she wants! But I'll list things I would want from cheapest to most expensive-

A gift card to my favorite store (be generous)
New computer game
Heelys - Really awesome shoes with wheels in the heel! look them up. But only get the heely brand, no crappy imitation brand!

A new video game
A trip To Build-A-Bear, Maybe with a friend (If shes into that)
Digital Camera
Nintendo DS Lite
PSP
Wii
iPod
A new cell phone

Make sure she dosent have any of this already! No makeup, jewelry, or other stuff like that. Im sure she has enough! I dont like getting that kind of stuff, Im 13. And if all else fails, you can never go wrong with money!!! :) But at this age, there arent many cheap things she would want.
If i think of anything else, I will edit this post. :)

When my daughter was 12, her favorite present for Christmas that year was a toiletry case containing a nice manicure set and a dozen or so nail polishes in assorted colors (including strange ones like blue and purple). I also got some nail charm stick-ons, some nice hand cream, a container of Purell hand cleaner, and some nail polish remover to put in the case.

Girls love things that they can use for prettying themselves up with, and it teaches them to take pride in their appearance.

Hmm.. then bypass to Micheals Arts and Crafts save or Joanne fabrics or any craft save.. for about $10-$12 you'll locate fairly some those craft kits and sweet stuff to make..or locate another craft kits to purchase for them..purpose has stuff too..in case you adult men are into music..Walmart,purpose, Bestbuy, has music cds you could purchase..or perhaps DVDs. Costco has some quite reliable cds and flicks too, books in the adventure that they prefer. Im truly no longer sensible in case you adult men have those shops in Hawaii..similar usa yet section..?

CD, movie, makeup type stuff (nail polish type things, not lipstick or anything like that), mall gift certificates, you could always get her a basket of things like candy, little gifts, maybe a book?

I reckon you cant go wrong with electronics. These days the latest tablet, fitness band or something like that would work well.

You can buy these online at places like Amazon

Depends on what you want to spend? I'd say clothes that fit her.. cds that she likes, video games if she has a ps2 or xbox or something...

Ask her parents?
