Our family just got home to find one of our puppies pinned between the back and side walls of its cage because its mother pushed her way through and he must have been fallowing and when the cage snapped shut it shut on his neck. When I found him he was gasping for air. I pulled him out and rubbed him to stimulate breathing. He started breathing right away. His eyes were bulging out and he was cold and shaking. Now he is breathing but looks dazed and then fell asleep. He also is very week and won't walk when he is awake. Does any one have any suggestions on what I should do? I do not know how long he was stuck there. Max. time is 3 hours. Also he whimpers now and again when he is not sleeping.

For your info Stalker... We rescued our female pitbull from an abandon house. She was left in the back yard when her owners moved. She was already pregnant when we got her. So how about just answering my question and stop critisizing. Thanks!!!

To all of you people who want to talk crap instead of answering my questions and putting your say in... You might want to think about what you are doing. This is yahoo questions not yahoo ask a question and get someones opinion on how they feel about your situation. You people could really make people feel ashamed or embarassed about asking questions on here. This is should be a helpful place not a place to make people feel bad!

I am sorry to hear that happened to one of the pups. I am sure you must be doing something with where the mother and pups are to prevent that from happening to another pup. It sounds like the puppies breathing was hindered enough to cause a lack of oxygen that could have done some permanent damage not to mention shock from being in that situation and any possible injury as it likely struggled when it was first stuck. A Vet would need to see the puppy to determine whether it is something temporary that is wrong with the puppy or whether it is damaged enough that it needs to be put to sleep. I hope the puppy will be okay.

The suggestion on what to do is: "TAKE YOUR PUP TO A VET"

I'm surprised that a breeder wouldn't know this and would be asking for advice on the computer rather than immediately calling an emergency vet to let them know a pup is being brought in. Oh, just looked at your past questions. Another BYB contributing to the 750,000 - 2.5 million pits killed in shelters a year. Sigh. : |

Edit: So this isn't the pitbull you wanted to breed here? : http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkbCsJbpjZMkU3GSnQpF.mfsy6IX?qid=20060907104855AAfbPc2

Or this one that you *did* breed?: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnW0rsOjJWj06v1ejcfGah7sy6IX?qid=20061005104550AA7NH7M

If not, my mistake. So, *This* dog wasn't from you as a BYB, just the *other* one.

And why are you still on here yelling at me??? An animal lover would be taking her pup to the emergency vet after the first *5* recommendations to do so, not sitting on here fighting with someone who they don't even know!

GET HIM TO A VET - then think about giving away the rest of your pups - anyone who even has to waste time asking such a question when they should be travelling at top speed to an expert for assistance does not deserve to own pets.

your puppy is in shock, scared and may have a bruised neck, pulled muscles in the neck, keep him warm and make sure he eats, drinks, potties, etc, watch him for the night and if no better by the ,morning take him to the vet. 4 weeks is awful small to be in that situation for such a long time it may hurt him to walk if he was trying to pull himself out and pulled muscles in his legs.

I'd take him to a vet, its possible he pinched a nerve or else damaged his spine being pinched in there. Poor thing. I hope he is ok and its just a scare but I'd take him to a vet Just in case.

you should have taken him to the vet right away.take him NOW.it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what should have been done. only a loving and caring person of animals, which you are not, would have taken the pup to the vet immediately.

He might have a spinal injury or oxygen deprevation injury. If he isn't walking take to a veternarian for evaluation.
