What would you do if you were in a big traffic jam and were in the middle lane so you could not go anywhere and the traffic jam did not clear for 2 and a half hours?

And this only counts for children 1-13.

We have actually been in this situation more than once. My kids are now 27, 25, 22, and 9 and we like to travel so we've had more than one "bathroom emergency" to deal with. I always keep 2 blankets in our car or van (we've owned several of both). With a car, if you open the front door and the back door and stand in front with a blanket, a child (or even an adult!!) can have a good bit of privacy if needed. In our van, the trash can has been used more than once for things other than fast food wrappers. We've even used both blankets a couple times for some needed privacy. There is that old saying that "Necessity is the mother of invention". We always carry a plastic box in our vehicles that has washable markers (crayons melt, our youngest got 2nd degree burns on her hand once picking up a crayon that had been left on her seat on a hot day and had melted), paper, pencils, a few books, some travel games, and UNO cards. I don't leave the house without a box of granola bars and a couple bottles of water. I keep a first aid kit and a tool kit in our vehicle as well.

Try to distract the child so they wont keep thinking that they had to go potty. If it gets really bad and the traffic is at a stand still you can ask other drivers to let you over then let the child go on the side of the road (That may sound horrible but I was on a road trip with my then 6 year old daughter and we were stuck in traffic and she had to go potty really bad to th point she started crying. Finally I was able to get all the way over and opened the back passenger door and the front passenger door and had my daughter go pee in between the two doors so noone could see her - if we hadn't done that she would've gone in her pants cuz traffic didn't clear for 3 hours)

I'm ten. I always pack something to do anyway. And I would squat in the woods.
