The general name for drugs that have an effect on perception is PSYCHOTROPICS.

The main problem is that it's difficult to find out whether the drugs give "unusual perception and understanding", or just MAKE YOU THINK that this effect has happened.

The best example of this is alcohol, which gives a drinker the impression of sharper reflexes, greater awareness, better judgement and just generally MASSIVELY IMPROVED DRIVING SKILLS. In reality, these faculties are all suppressed by the alcohol.

For further information, see Aldous Huxley's book 'The Doors of Perception'. (same guy that wrote 'Brave New World')

Most people that take mind altering drugs cant deal with reality and that is why they have to change their perception on life.
Anyone that takes more then 1 tab of LSD in a year is class as mentally ill (not by me but by Doctors).

Every time you take these things and change your perception you never quite go back to normal, continuation to do so will lead you to crossing a line that you will never come back from, a friend of mine got put away because he was apparently being spied on continuously, he TV had a hidden camera in it and there were microphones in the walls and ceilings.
So make your own choice on the benefits, a few hours of pleasure and a lifetime of pain for you, your family and your freinds

I really don't think human beings need to tinker with unusual perceptions. Just wrapping their heads around the standard perception is usually difficult enough.

Trust me. Having a deeper understanding of the cosmos is not a good thing.

It can be. All drugs have the potential to cause harm to the physical body, so keep that in mind before experimenting. If taken properly, yes.. some hallucinogenics have the ability to help you see and perhaps understand things you otherwise would not.

no. I've done several hallucinigenics and I can assure you that any percieved perception or understanding is a load of crock.

They just make you FEEL like you have unusual understanding. the truth is they do nothing beyond immediate entertainment value.

It may be true that this happens, but I can tell you from experience that in then end, you wind up MORE confused by all the new info/thoughts with half the ability to really remember all the insights. Bad idea all around.
