It all depends on you. None of my tatoos hurt at all - just a tingle. I've asked my friends about their artwork, and get mixed answers. Some are male and some are female. The art has been on fleshy areas and areas close to the bone. Ankles, backs, breasts, arms, pubic, legs, buttocks, neck, and one on top of the head. Some had more pain in fleshy areas, and others had more pain in boney areas.
Based on the conversations, a quick way to tell would be to take a sharp object and poke your breast and poke you ankle. Don't puncture the skin - you could get an infection - but the pain you feel (or lack of) will determine what will probably hurt or not hurt on you.

I would like to start out by saying that (despite popular belief), getting a tattoo on a "bony" part of your body does NOT mean it's going to hurt more than getting one on a "fatty" part of your body.
I have tattoos on my ribcage, and yes, they were VERY painful.
I have some on either side of my lower back, where there tends to be more fatty tissue, and it was such an irritating pain when I was having those done, it was all I could do to keep from jumping right out of the chair!
Now.
I have tattoos on the backs of my ankles, and I have tattoos around both of my nipples.
The tattoos on the backs of my ankles are not on a "bony" part of my leg, and they were very painful.
The ones on my breasts hardly hurt at all. But, my breasts are not very sensitive... plus I had quite an audience, and we were all laughing most of the time anyway.
But please, whatever you do, don't decide where you are going to get a tattoo based on what spot will hurt the least.
If you find a tattoo you really want, decide WHERE you want to put it, no matter how much someone else says it's going to hurt, and just do it.
You won't die from the pain, and once it's over you'll be happy you have it where you want it.
After all, they aren't washable. :)

I have 8 tats including an ankle band with alot of detail in it. I thought it was going to kill but it wasn't bad at all, The tat that I thought was the worst to get was the one I have on my behind only because the flesh is never exposed and is a lot more tender and everytime the tattooist stared I would flinch.
My advice is get whatever you want where ever you want it. Enjoy the experience cause as they say it is addictive and you will definatlety be back for a second or third or in my case an eighth.

The ankle tattoo will hurt a lot more, but it is a wiser decision because our breast change size and shape as the years go. So will you're tattoo.

I think an ankle tattoo would hurt more considering that it's close to the bone. I've heard that they hurt less on meaty parts of the body.

When you tattoo an ankle it is so close to the bone that there isnt much give in your skin and tissue and it ends up hurting more. But just think you will never have to buy anklets again. lol

The one on my ankle, hurt more than the one on my breast. The least painful one, was the one on the back.

Tatoos on a bone are known to hurt the most, so by that theory your ankle would hurt more. But depending on your pain tolerance and how much extra padding you have on those spots, it will be different for everyone!

Bone hurts a whole lot more, trust me! Since this is your first tattoo, I would recommend going with the breast. I have mine tattooed, and the pain was nothing compaired to my wrist (on the bone) and lower back (on the bone)
