Does the doctor recommend a colonoscopy if you test positive for blood in your stool?

Not necessarily, it all depends on other factors also. One is diet, another is drinking habits,if applicable. Another is lifestyle. It all goes hand in hand.
Then, if the blood is thick and tarry, or just bloody. It could mean a hemorrhoid, or a fissure ( a cut just inside the annal opening) Polyps that are raising heck due to diet, all has to be scrutinized. Careful deductions have to be made.

It depends on whether it is red, or conversely, tarry stool. Tarry stool is from a bleed high in the intestinal tract and is not an indication for colonoscopy. On the other hand, red blood in stool can be due to internal or external hemorroids, or bleeding in the rectum or colon. If your doctor rules out hemorroids, a colonoscopy would be appropriate.

Yes, unless you have taken a lot of aspirin. Is it more than a teaspoon? Hemorrhoids may be a factor

they might but not always alot depends on is it birght red or dark and tarylike
