The church had a dominating power, they had a banking system, they influenced every king, queen, and nobleman in Europe. They forced their religion on the people or else death was brought upon them.

the church was a major part of everyday life.. back then the churches and goverments ruled together..bishops would read and write for the kings and also did other things... and thats how the church had power

very draconian and almost superstitous , they caused the Crusades against the jews and arabs in the holy city(jerusalem) and made sex a four letter word (guilt trips and persecutions) not much of their involvement was good. they caused wars and oppression in the name of god. kinda sounds like our enemys in the mideast now .dont it?
