I never did. I only had the pain meds.

Good luck, I had mine pulled 3 days before Christmas a few years back and couldn't eat anything for the holidays. So make sure you stay on those meds while you can!

If your teeth were symptomatic (pain, swelling, bleeding, and infection) prior to their removal, the dentist would typically prescribe antibiotics and pain medication after the surgery. If your teeth were not, pain medications are all you need.

Several studies have shown that empirically prescribed antibiotics for asymptomatic dental surgery can do more harm than good. Some of the common problems include:

1. Gastrointestinal upset ( diarrhea and bleeding stool)
2. Acute allergic reaction
3. Opportunistic yeast infection
4. Resistant to future infection treatment due to drug tolerance
5. Reduction of the birth-control-pill effectiveness

Not necessarily. Sometimes, they load the "holes" with antibacterial agents before they stitch them up.

He should have sent you home with a syringe, and instructions on how to keep the holes clean.

Not necessarily. I was told to just be careful with both eating and brushing, and to swish salt water to clean the wounds. Do what your doctor says, and you'll be fine.

Not unless you have an infection and you wouldn't have one this soon! Just keep them rinsed and you will be OK.
