It's biological. Men and women tend to chose mates that have features they wish for their offspring to carry. Women also have been known to seek security or personality traits in their mates so that they can have a provider for the children. It's subconscious, but it's there.

Yep, in this world it's dog eat dog, and no women or man's going to go with the dog that gets eaten, excuse the phraseology lol. At first you are attracted to a partner because they catch your eye - thus looks, then you are attracted when you get closer by smell. After which if there dress sense is poor you hope to high and hell the personalty makes up for it. In ways of material things doesn't bother me much, but i do like a well dressed fella, with nice hair styled and a good symmetrical face never goes a miss but i am sure I'm not alone.

I don't know about looks (not that I want to marry someone who is ugly), but money is very important when it comes to picking a future spouse. I can't marry anybody with a credit score of 450 (when I have a credit score over 700) and expect to buy things jointly like a house. It's impossible and I shouldn't feel like I have to carry all of the financial burden.

Ive seen a lot of hot girls in school, but i've never really wanted to date them. I want a good looking girl that has an awesome personality. I dont really care about money that much, as long as she doesnt have an obsession with shopping without need at all.

It's only cause people are looking for more out of life and are not interested now in just making do. Cause someone has lots of money or a good career we think that they are driven and if they are like that in their career then they would not be so willing to quit a relationship, or family life.

who is we?, a lot of people already are, never mind becoming, they live from their ego, media controls them. & probably don't know who they are, a puppy is for life not just for christmas, if you understand what i mean. Then again so be it, if they are not causing any harm, and are happy then great,so yes we really are. it's better than being obsessed with producing fine specimen children, or is that a part of it?...& it's better than walking round with expectations on how the world (should) live, we live in a day & age where their are no absolutes, man we are strange.

Yes - but with good reason. When we lived in caves, a woman would look for a strong, healthy man as he would be able to compete with other men and provide for and protect his children. In today's society, a good looking man with money shows he can compete and succeed in this world. Same motivation as before, just different rules.

I think young immature women are obsessed with looks and money. More mature women are not.

Men are only obsessed with their own money, but will marry a poor girl, as long as she isn't obese and butt ugly. Men, however, when it comes to finding a sex partner, will hit anything that moves.

i believe we are in some way or form. with inflation it does take two to live comfortably. it's a way of looking how to balance each other out.if you are going to take me out for a nice fab dinner, i am going to go get groceries for a week.as far as looks go..look at all the competition out there ..you see it on t.v. at work etc.....i think people are getting to materialistic.sure you can get a Pam Anderson look a like, but does down the road know how to cook, make you laugh or smile, accept you and your quirks. i am pretty sure girls like that have high expectations too!
