Well, if he can't get over his ex, then he obviously still has feeling for her. It's definitely not a good idea to get with someone in that situation. You really can't do anything about that situation, because that's his problem, not yours. You and your friend probably will have to wait for that situation to die down if either of you want to make a move on him.

Between the two of you, you need to be honest with your friend about your feelings. It's only fair that both of you know what's going on before mixed feelings comes up if either of you hook up with that guy.
