There are different classes of services to book tickets in. These are the fares:

Here is the breakdown for an airline (Just An Example):

First Class = A, R, F, Z
Full Fare Ticket = Y

Both of these tickets are refundable and you can make changes without a change fee. No tickets are transferrable.

Restricted Fares
X, W, Q, L, I, N, S, T, V, K,U (not in order)

Internet Fares = X

The fares start at the lowest
There are a certain amout of seats in X Class. After those are sold, it goes to the next class, which cost more, and then next price.

All of the Restriced fees have fare rules.
Change fees from 25.00 to 200.00.

All airline policies charge a change fee because people make changes all of the time.

Hope this helps yall.

It refers to the restrictions placed on the fare. Even within coach fares, there are several different classes. I don't know all of them off the top of my head, so I can't tell you particularly what each one means. But an example of the difference would be an upgradeable class vs. a non-upgradeable class. If you purchase an upgradeable class fare to sit in coach, you can use frequent flier miles to upgrade to first class. The same person with the same seat purchased via a non-upgradeable fare could not use the same miles to sit in first class. Other restrictions include refundable and flexible return date. So one of your tickets has a little more flexibility than the other but you might not ever use those benefits.

it's all economy classes, but there are different restrictions. Maybe you got the cheapest fare but with restrictions, or maybe you got an upgradeable ticket.
