You really need to go to a doctor to have this checked out. There are a number of things that could cause pain in that area. Some being serious and some not so serious. Make a doctors appointment and if it gets worse you need to get yourself to an E.R. I hope you feel better soon!

This pain is not unusual when there is a prolapse of the transverse colon.. Is caused by the build up of gas being blocked at the flexure (or bend) at the descending colon.. if this is the problem, you may find relief from assuming the knee chest position. If this is not the problem, should have a thorough examination to determine the causation.

If it is a swelling appendix, DON'T take asprin, it will cause it to burst, KILLING YOU!!! My bros roomate died this way, cause a nurse gave him blood thinner for his pain. I believe the law suit was sucessful, BTW.

It could also be a kidney stone, more localized but usually on the right side.

A very expensive CT scan will let you know.

It could also be a myriad of other things. But if you are in so much pain you can't walk, you should see a doctor immediately~

Sudden? Any other symptoms? New? Could be gas, constipation, intestinal blockage, appendicitis (yes, rarely, it is on the left)...many things. need more info. Nausea, vomtting, loose stools? Are you female? Could be ovarian cyst, or monthly release of egg from ovary ( this can frequently cause sharp lower abd. pain).

You could have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or gas. Have you had it long? Do you find you have problems when stressed? Are there certain foods that you find irritating? Do you get the runs or constipaped for no reason? Could be IBS.

If you are asking this question because you are in severe pain I would recommend a trip to the emergency room asap. If you are in enough pain where you cannot go call 911............wish you well.
