No but people can be evil. Those people depicted in the movie were the absolute malevolent. Also don't forget if it happened, it happened in Ireland.

I watched the movie for about the 5th time last night...but this time it really really affected me, more so than before for some reason. Is it any wonder Ireland is not a catholic country anymore? I have never seen such a drastic change as I've seen in Ireland towards religion & catholicism.I would however like to make a response to that comment above about ireland, the irish people in no way approve of what happened, they despise the catholic church for it and as a result that is why catholicism practically doesn't exist anymore. Do not blame the Irish people please, blame the catholic church and the Vatican - can you believe they actually knew what was going on here in Rome and they did NOTHING about it?!

That was the saddest, most twisted movie I have ever seen. Yes, there has been so much evil done in the name of religion, which is part of the reason I left organized religion to begin with.

I have seen that movie. I must say that the Catholic Church has at times been an evil organization, and in some places is due to corruption. So, yes.
