I filed bankruptcy and I still have 1 auto loan (few late paymnets) one mastercard, checking account. How soon do you think my credit will improve. Has anyone had this similar situation. Also, has anyone heard of a credit reapair program that takes bankruptcy, liens, collections, late payments off your credit report.? The program is supposed to really work.

I filed bankruptcy 7 years ago and it took years for my credit rating to improve. Don't be late on any payments at all for about 6 or more months and it will improve some. Credit repair services are generally a rip off, so be careful, I don't know of any that are legitimate.

I have a friend and a family member both file bankruptcy. The friend filed in 2001 and bought their first home in 2004. It takes several years to improve your credit score. Here is a hint. Dont have your credit ran to try to obtain credit for credit cards due to everytime that your credit is ran there is a black mark put on your credit report. Keep your payments current and try to pay off any of your loans sooner. This improves your credit score even faster. Get a copy of your credit report a few months after your discharge. Check it to make sure everything was removed. From personal experience with a family member there were several things on their credit report months after discharge so check it and check it often. Good Luck! GOOD Credit is around the corner. Another hint..THROW the credit card offers AWAY!

There is no such program if there was credit reports would be irrelevant. Think about if you could have negative information removed from my credit report. Everyone would have good credit.
Anyone that says they can clean your credit report is exaggerating.

Did you know that more Americans filed for bankruptcy last year in the United States than in the entire decade of the 1960s. Fortunately, you can begin repairing your credit score immediately if you are wise about how you manage your money and debt. Below is a great article for you to read.

Good Luck

Scores will improve quickly after a BK because the liability goes away...but scores will only improve greatly if accounts in good standing are established after the BK. The report will need the positive activity to get the greatest score improvments. A secured credit card would be a good start.

Here is some additional info. Hope this helps.
