I live in a major metropolitan city, and during nice weather there are a few people who ride their bikes on major roads in the middle of rush hour - I think that bicycling is great, but when there are no designated bike paths, it just seems very dangerous to the cyclist and auto drivers at the same time. From a cyclist's point of view, why would you put yourself at risk doing this? It only endangers you and really messes up traffic.

Their idiots.I see people ride their bikes in major intersection with a lot of trafic going 45 mph with no bike lanes and expect every driver to slow down for them.I have to hit my brakes because the idiot is between my moving car and a parked car on the side.I probably wouldn't feel sorry if I hit them. Are bicyclist required to walk their bikes across the intersection instead of riding them across without stopping?I mean if I make a right turn and a bicyclist came out of nowhere because they weren't paying attention to traffic and I hit them, I probably wouldn't fell sorry.

Deal with it. In most states, bicyclists are considered the SAME as any other vehicle when traveling on public roads. This means that they need to follow traffic rules, signal their intentions and yield the right of way when appropriate, but it also means that you, the motorist, need to suck it up and get on with your life. Cyclists have the right to be there.

If it really bothers you THAT much, you would do better to petition your local DOT to add designated bike paths or wider shoulders to existing roads. Given the opportunity, most cyclist would rather be out of traffic than in it.

Here in Chicago, and MAYBE other cities, it's illegal to ride on the sidewalks. You can get a ticket for riding on the sidewalk. Drivers here really suck. They never look out for riders. These are SHARED roads mind you. There are bike lanes on many of the streets and drivers still don't lookout. Really bogus!!
Be cool drivers, share the road.....PLEASE. Some of us would rather ride than drive.

the entire sport of bicycling is a risk. i always weave through thick traffic. it fun...until someone get pissed and opens a door on you. hasnt happened to me yet. i can always sue them for it. Cyclist have the same rights to the road as cars do.

loosen up and learn some persistence. there are plenty a lot less bicyclists on the line then vehicles, and they have each and every top to be on the roads. truly, i detect too many motorists to be the probability of the highways with their dashing, speaking on the phones and texting, eating, shaving, yelling at their childrens, etc. at the same time as making use of.
