Last time I went, I had the flu, and I don't understand why he would need to knock me out with general anesthesia or give me a rectal exam for the flu. Also, he tells me it's normal to have bleeding from the anus after a visit to the doctors, but my girlfriends on the cheerleading squad say it's never happened to them. Do you think I'm right to be suspicious?

Yes! Get a different doctor quickly! You should NOT need anesthesia for the flu. If you know any of his other patients, talk to them and see what they think. Or talk to someone else you trust but I've never heard of getting a rectal exam for the flu! Go with your instincts. You have every right to be suspicious.

An ordinary physician - family doctor-type - does rectal exams to palpate the prostate gland for lumps and enlargement. It's not a "fun" activity, but is a very good test to have on the same basis as a general physical exam, and especially if you are having difficulty urinating.

It sounds as if the physician has abused you in a medical situation so I would ask that you discuss this with your parents who should ask for a copy of your medical records and report the physician to the County and State Medical Boards. As a physician I am deeply grieved to hear of a colleague behaving in such a manner but sadly I have known of more than a few who have done this and worse. Please - discuss this with your parents - your actions may protect even worse from happening to someone else.

you've got to be joking, seriously. How old are you, I don't know where you live but im sure your parents would have to sign for consent for any general anesthetic in the first place, and if you are old enough to sign for yourself well this must be a joke... not funny

I hope you're making this up and it's some kind of joke. If not, you need to STOP seeing this doctor and contact the police. You've been sexually assaulted.

I agree. I hope this is a joke. If not, report him to the police and to your state medical board IMMEDIATELY. Get help from an adult that you trust.
