Tens of millions of people love it, and it's copycat brands. And it can be great in cooking (try a casserole of some large shrimp/prawns baked in a cream sauce with some cheese melted in and fresh chopped cilantro and a couple of dashes of Pernod mixed in at the last minute. Yum!)

No. It ain't nice but it doesn't come close to the worst drink. Which, by the way, is Campari. Whereas Pernod tastes like aniseed balls infused in battery acid, Campari tastes like the back-of-throat bile you get after a night drinking Pernod. And they colour Campari with the crushed shells of beetles.

The worst drink ever:

My friend went to India for 6 weeks for a job training for his company. There he bought a litre bottle that contained moonshine, a baby cobra, and an adult scropion. We are talking a real cobra and scropion - not one of those plastic kid toys.

I swear this stuff had some hardcore guys jacked up for hours puking their guts up.

The only thing I can think of that would have made it worse, would have been a shot of Pernod, thanks for making me throw up in my mouth.

No, Pernod is tasty if you like anise or fennel flavors. (It might be a bit too strong if you don't mix it with water, but with water it's delicious!)

The worst drink ever invented, IMHO, is an Italian herbal liquor called Fernet Branca. Bleh! It's like drinking a liquified Ricola cough drop only more bitter. Blech, blech, blech!

Try going to Hong Kong and see a bottle of Snake Wine in a restaurant, not even with a hangover or on a dare?
