You can pray to The Lord anywhere. He wasn't praying to theirs.

If Jesus were here today, and he may very well be for all we know, he would be at the Strip Clubs and the Casinos! READ THE GOSPELS!

What do you know about these other religions? How do you know they are not following the same basic principles that Christ teaches. True, they do not follow what Christ himself said, but for the most part, other religions have the same values and principles as christians.
You should do some more research about these 'pagan' religions and see what their teachings are...then you can ask the question if you still don't get it.
Also, I pray with people who are not christians all the time. Despite who you are praying to, whether it be God or Yahweh, or the Moon Goddess, there is still faith involved. If you are praying for people's lives, it is going to do more good than not.

Why not embrace all world religions? Maybe the Pope is open-minded and educated enough to realize that just because he has a strong faith in his religion doesn't mean he has the ONLY right one. By praying in other churches, he could begin healing some of the terrible wounds that religious zealousness has caused in the world. It's about time...

The Pope is a Christian leader who believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ, but shows respect for other religions by promoting intolerance among all different religions, such as Christianity and Muslims.

Any truly wise person, anyone who has been so enlightened by their religion as to achieve the leadership of that religion, knows that deep down, we all pray to the same Big Kahuna. The name we call to and the method of our prayer matters far less than the fact of the prayer itself.
The Pope is a wise and spiritual man, and can recognize the wisdom and spirit in the truly devout of other religions. A person who leads a good and blameless life will surely be admitted to Heaven - regardless of Who s/he was expecting to open the door.
So he can show respect to other religions without being unfaithful to his own. If only we could all be so understanding and respectful!

Why don't we all pray together, respect one another, even though we might not agree w/an-others beliefs, only the true God can determine that...we are all sinners.
We some how, no mater what belief we have, started a division between us centuries ago...If we respect one another now maybe it's a start for peace.
No one has to embrace other beliefs, PLEASE SHOW RESPECT, that's what Jesus did in the first century, with the Romans, Sadducee's, Pharisees...they all had their own ways.

He's trying to show that people of different religions can pray together without the world coming to an end. It's called showing respect for diversity.

"Let us pray for brotherhood and for all humanity." ~ Pope Benedict XVI.

One could certainly pray for worse things.

the pope is pagan. you keep pagan holidays, you are pagan period. there is now way to make paganism respectable or for you to even think that Yahweh will accept any type of worship other then the keeping of his Laws, Statues, and Judgments. just ask Cain.

Yahshua said that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Yahweh. the words called his Laws included.

they're blind to Catholicism. They pay interest to anti-Catholic pastors and proceed to spread lies. I snicker on the mentality of a few who have not examine any historic previous. C'mon, they nonetheless imagine Constantine favourite the Catholic Church? they're nonetheless protesting. that is why they're referred to as PROTESTant's. they're the "Bible-in straight forward words" mentality. as if Bibles purely fell out of heaven..... and then they %. and choose from it to satisfy their approaches. They misread the Bible. And as Jon M has said, "it is going to change right into a intense sin referred to as "pretend witness" that is condemned through the ninth commandment."
