Some are comfortable allowing others to tell them what to do and what not to do. I don't mind following instructions, but I like to understand why. Blind obedience doesn't work for me.
Some are afraid to touch books like _The DaVinci Code_ or _The Satanic Bible_ or _The Satanic Verses_ because they actually believe the tactile contact will contaminate them in some way. Maybe a demon will jump from the cover into their flesh and inhabit their being. I have no such superstitions. I'm not afraid to read any book or see any movie, though there are many that I refuse to buy or watch because I think they will be a waste of my time.

I wouldn't laugh, but I would ask her how she felt about it? How deep her convictions are for the Lord, and does she believe that God has given her the mind of Christ through Salvation.
I know a pastor who is doing a group study on the movie, and breaking everything down--so, truth will be told for her if she is open for it, but if she believes that to be under the authority of her priest and not to disobey, you cannot knock her for it. She has a choice just like everyone else in the world has a choice - it is our freewill to choose what we will ultimately do and she chose to obey her priest.

I would not laugh but I would feel sorry for the person. I have not seen the movie but I did read the book, and I placed it in the category of good fiction. I have seen every Harry Potter movie and my children own all of the books as well as the DVD's. I am a christian but I trust myself to know the difference between fiction and subtle attempts to dislodge my faith. I suppose it has to do with personal choice. My religion allows free chioce and some others feel like they have to ask a spritual leader if it is okay to pee or poop at any given moment. I am sorry for them.

That is very funny, and also familiar to me. Half of my family consists of Jehovah Witnesses who won't even allow themselves to see R rated movies because the content is likely to conflict with their faith. I often make jokes about this because they assume the age of a minor when it coming to movies. But seriously though, I think that if your faith can be shaken or agitated by a work that is purely fiction, then it doesn't make a strong case for your faith being non-fiction.

Our Priest told us that there was nothing wrong with seeing it, but that he thought there were better things to spend money and time on.
I agreed.
I did not laugh at all. Saw nothing funny or sad about it.
Christians don't believe in laughing at other people who don't share our views, but if it works for ya go ahead!
BTW, Catholics DO read the Bible!
The Church is not out of touch with the people, the people are out of touch with God.
Do your own enlightened study for yourself and read the Bible, study what Catholics truly believe and why, instead of blindly following the anti-Catholic propaganda, and you call us sheep???
You can start here:

Peace!

I would tell you not to watch it either if I thought your convictions were weak. If you do not have a solid foundation your house will be knocked over. For some it is easier to believe some dumb movie than what has been spoken by GOD.

Too funny! I mean it's not like it's a pornographic film or something akin! Makes you wonder what he's afraid of, eh?

I think we should boycot it. I don't think people who write books should be able to take an historical figure and write fiction about them. If you took a well known figure that was alive today and wrote a fiction story about them which made them a prostitute, and defamed their character you wouldn't get away with it. So why can we do it to someone who is dead and can't defend themselves. If Dan Brown wants to write a fiction story then use fictional names, but don't use a real person and make up fiction about them.
