my dog barks in his sleep, and if your dogs does too, it is because dogs dream, and they will do a little bark sometimes.

My Blue heeler does all the time. She will go from wimpers to muffled barks and sometimes wakes her self up much to her suprise from a full on bark. Along with all of that she twitches horribly throughout the night. I got worried at first but now it is kind of amusing......

Yes. I have 7 dogs and they all do it. The worst one is the Jackshire terrier i have. She sleeps with us and I spend most of my sleep time either nudging her cos she's woofing or nudging the old man cos he's snoring.

Our Border Collie puppy occasionally whimpers and whines... I suspect she's spotted a squirrel in her dreams as the feet start going shortly there after!

yes all the time. They are very cognitive animals and they dream and experience rem as well. If they get too into the dream they may hurt themselves, so you may want to coax them awake by softly calling their name, do not touch them. This is the most vunerable time for them and they might bite not realizing what u are.
