I'm not a guy but I'd give the guy a card and his favorite candy. Food seems to be one of the best things to give a guy.

Honestly it depends on what his interests are. Sports, get him a jersey of his favorite sports team/ or player.Clothes, Anything to do with food will work also. Something my girl did for me was get me a gift cetificate for 2 at a restaurant. Its a psychology thing also. i read her mind.

give him a cd that he doesn't have and 4 some reason he will listen to it more than the others.
