My kids really want to help me in the kitchen, and I have a few ideas for them to help. BUT, the recipes for the Rice Krispie treats seem kind of dull. I know that somebody on Yahoo will know the answer!

How about adding smarties, m&m's and broken chocolate chip cookie pieces ? Easy to make to! Just measure out enough rice crispies in a mixing bowl, melt marshmallows in the microwave untill they go all gooey, pour over the 'krispies, add 3 tablespoons of golden syrup, mix into the rice krispies, then add the smarties, m&m's and pieces of cookie! Next, shape the mixture into squares, rectangles, or any shape you want! And place on a baking tray. Before popping the treats in the fridge to set.. Drizzle melted chocolate over the tops! Add whatever you want to these.. And enjoy this recipe for heaven! P.S: you can also make these more chocolately by using coco-pops, rather than rice krispies!

A different and cool idea for the little ones is:

Use fruity pebbles or rice cripies with melted gummy worms. It's good and the kiddies get a kick out of watching the gummy worms melt away, chill if frig or freezer for about 20mins or until completly chilled befor cutting..
Have fun!

use the same recipe from the rice crispies box but exchange some or all of the rice crispies for cocoa pebbles or fruity pebbles for color. Add colored marsh mellows or chocolate chips. You can also have them use cookie cutters to shape the treats.
Hope this helps--my kids love these ideas.

ARe you serious? Simple is good for Rice Crispy treats!

Although, you can always peanut butter or chocolate chips to them.
Also, substitute Frosted Flakes for Rice Crispies and it is extra sweet.

basically what the others said... just add whatever sweets you like to the mix. nuts, candy, dried fruit, differnt varieties of cereal, maybe try the cocoa krispies, or what about lucky charms? also, when your done, drizzle your favorite topping over the concoction. your kids will have blast, plus, no cooking required!
