Have you ever debated a Christian or Muslim into a corner and destroyed their faith in God? Is this even possible? How did you manage it? I have pretty much given up because all the theists I try to explain it to stop listening as soon as you disprove their idea of God and just start throwing Bible/Quran quotes about how you will go to hell.

Can't disprove God? Ok, here's a summary. There is no proof for God. Science has no major holes. These points can take a while to establish, depending on how much detail the theist asks for. Once this has been proven, then the Christian god does not exist because god loves people and should have given a sign of his existence if he doesn't want people to go to hell. Therefore, god is either evil and very unlike the god in the Bible or god does not exist in the first place.

"Like debating a pork chop" Apeman, you make me laugh. Eh, its time to go do something else. I formally give up trying to make people understand things they don't want to understand.

Science and religion are not diametric opposites and the completeness or otherwise of science or religion has no bearing on the validity of the other.
I'm glad you've given up on the idea of trying to destroy anything in another human being, it's a cruel thing to do. If you think you have a higher understanding than they do and you'd like to raise them to where you are so that they could see clearly, (The best possible motive that I can imagine for what you seem to be doing) why don't you donate money to schools in the developing world? That could really raise some one up and give them a better understanding.
That way you would know that you really were trying to change someone's life for the better and not just satisfying your ego by indulging in crushing people who are possibly intellectually weaker than you.
Pity and compassion are not the sole province of religious people.

What a lot of people in America and Europe, and the Islamic countries ignore is that there are millions of Americans whose ancessors were muslims. Their ancessors exscaped their Islamic oppressors to start a new life in America and most converted to Christianity. or Became Atheists.
If given complete freedom to choose their religion millions of muslims would convert to christinaity or atheism with in weeks.
Islam is held together by terrorist, threats, death, rape, imprisonment.
Most muslims are scared to allow freedom of religion and that religion calls for the death of any one who leaves it. It was only recently(last 20 years or so ) that muslims stopped becoming a full member of what ever country they migrated to and attempted to remain change the culture of the areas they moved to.
Although there were thousands of muslims over the last 200 or so years endeduphere they inter mixed with the population and became good citizens.

Religion does not have a recourse in truth. There simply is nothing toback them up in their godly religions. Quoteing the bible or koranis all they have and both were created by mad men.
Jesus Christ was not even his name as Jesus is not Jewish but Greek. The romans adopted the Greek version as they intrepeted
the holy bible from greek scholors held as Roman slaves. The Christina savior "christ" was first and foremost a Jew, not a Christians Christians were not invented until 450 years later after the Romans went the route of the Jews and sought a new one God religion.
The islamic prophet mohammad (knowned as "Mohammad the mad" was a for runner of our television preachers (as was christ).
This man was the equilivent of a wino seeking change in his life and started out with a new religon as did Jim Jones and ended up enslaving millions. He as did Joesph Smith declared himself "the prophet over all mankind and God appointed.
Had Smith lived in the middle east or europe it's likely the history ofthe world would be very different now.

I'm agnostic...
But I must stay it's rather pointless to get into a thelogical debate with a christian.....
All they do is quote the bible and if you try and get them to come up with an answer of there own that don't have some basis in what the bibble tells them, or should you ever prove the bibble wrong... they just get angry and don't whant to talk about it anymore becose you have been 'brainwashed' by SOMEONE... usaly the libral meda.....
I always find that funny... they always fall back to the fact you have been brainwashed by some one and thats they only way you could posably not agree with them....
uh hu...... who has been brainwashing who now?

If I would convert average theist to atheism , then I would use humane reason and the person is likely suffering some how from religious prosecutions like in Saudi or Iran. In other world you can not convert a happy person with his faith to atheism.

I don't think I've ever personally converted anyone. I do like to think that I've made a few of them pause for at least a few seconds. That's the best you can hope for, really. I never actively try to "convert" them though - that's up to them.
Some of them will begin to question so much that they'll have no choice other than atheism, really. That's what happened to me, anyway. That's all I really want people to do - and that is to question. To question is to challenge, to challenge is to learn, and to learn is to be human. If I can make believers a little more human, maybe we wouldn't have places like the middle east in the world.

Everyone is born an atheist. Some remain atheists. It is illogical to demand that they prove god doesn't exist.
But it is essential for those who have come to believe in the existence of god, to show what has lead them to that belief and provide something at least close to a proof -- if only to themselves.

Not really.
The guys you help out are the ones who are already questioning things. I really stay away from any debate that isn't in an open, public forum like this. I am not answering Christians to change them. I answer to explain my belief to someone who is leaning that way and reading it.

No. I wouldn't want to. I kind of accidentally did it to a Mormon once (I like religions, and I had never met a Mormon before, so I wanted to know what personal experiences he'd had that made him believe his faith; he realized he didn't have any and started crying and freaking out, and we were just sitting on the city bus and I felt AWFUL).
Other people believing in anything doesn't hurt me. If they're irrationally harmful in the name of faith, I might try to reason with that, but I have no reason to randomly destroy someone's faith. I don't need reinforcement to what I believe, nor do I desire to hurt others.

I don`t feel the need to debate with hardheaded idiots who won`t listen to reason .It is not my JOB to convert anyone to my way of thinking .I look around and see the lies ,the hippocrisy, and the insanity that religions causes .Its just not for me .I am a realist and can see what is in front of me .If the religious want to pretend in a superior being ,let them .It only bothers me when they JUDGE ME and tell me that I am evil ."I" do more good with my money than a church would .They would only use part of it for helping others and the rest in administrative costs and salaries.
SCREW THAT.
